EPIC GUIDE

ANALYTICS OVERVIEW:

WHAT WE DID:

The brief was simply to create a digital version of the printed Event Guide and then we suggested a digital daily mag as a new addition to the communication package. This simple overview was not only achieved but superseded in the final delivery. The publications were of the highest digital (publication) quality and which could be globally comparable to any but actually with very few, if any, are.

Certainly the digital publications are unmatched globally in the sports event category that we have encountered. There may be pdf based publications that don’t offer the functionality and navigation, particularly on mobile.

We released 4 “chapters” that made up the Event Guide. Another advantage of using the digital platform – we aren’t bound by a single deadline. We can release information strategically, allowing for well-timed campaigns, frequency and relevance. Each chapter was released along with the previous chapter – so you always had the choice to send individual chapters and/or the entire Guide. Another advantage is that a specific page link can be sent – allowing direct navigation to that page – of course it comes along with the rest of the magazine so you can still browse the publication.

The “daily mags” were released on the following day of every Stage. It would not only be a succinct round-up of the previous day but also contain relevant information for the following day – routes, news, change etc. The dailies also carried the link to live coverage.

The magazines proved to be not only visually attractive but also easily navigated with excellent engagement and dwell time. All pages including adverts supplied are designed or adapted/optimised for digital platforms including: Desktop, Tablet and Mobile.

ANALYTICS PRESENTED:

The analytics supplied are directly from the publication servers. Analytics can also integrate Google analytics for the web traffic - this has not been done as of yet. All analytics are available by title – so each chapter or mag we release has its own set of analytics. We have combined as well as shown the individual chapters. The Daily Mags is a combined analytical overview but individual days are available.

We start with the combined numbers and stats of the section (ie event guide) which includes the pie charts that indicate traffic sources, devices (desktop, tablets or mobile) and the navigation method within the publication.

Followed by a Combined Content Analysis – click the icon for a full POPUP pdf – this will show the various pages in order of time spent on the page. This should give an interesting overview as to what was most popular. This is also done by individual chapters and is available for individual dailies.

It is also good indicator for the sponsors to see which adverts received more dwell time. WRT advertising there are of course various factors that may influence this including: creative, issue relevance, content etc.

Finally we have the referrals: which shows how the reader reached the publication. This will give a good indication of what worked. Database emails are pretty much a sure thing but the return on social media channels (and spend) can be seen.
